What do you think? …

Arsenii Koriagin

Hello everyone!
My name is Arsenii and I am a true recycling fan, but I always found myself struggling with how to dispose of packaging and waste correctly.

There is no unified guide, so I constantly found myself Googling (or ChatGPT'ing) how to sort bottles, organic waste or paper whenever I stayed in an Airbnb or walked around a new city. I had to do this over and over again every time I changed locations.

I realized that many people ignore recycling rules or sort incorrectly simply because they are not familiar with them.

So, I came up with an idea: to build a tool that gives me an answer in seconds. And that’s how EcoSort was born!

We (my Co-Founder Anna and I) decided to keep it simple: instead of giving you long text instructions, we guide you by color. EcoSort relies on Computer Vision (no barcodes needed) to identify waste and match it with local rules, showing you exactly which colored bin to use.

This project comes from a personal commitment, because I often think about how to help keep the planet clean. The overall goal? To make sorting waste as easy as having the morning cup of coffee.

Currently, EcoSort works in 7 European countries (Spain, Portugal, Germany, Italy, Austria, France, and the Netherlands), but we are planning on adding more countries and continents. We hope to make waste recycling easier not only for expats and tourists, but also make recycling a seamless habit for locals.

We would really appreciate it if you tried EcoSort and gave me and Anna any feedback or thoughts! It would mean the world to us!

Great product! Quick question: does it recognize complex packaging? Like a yogurt pot with a cardboard sleeve and a foil lid?

Margarita Shvetsova

@miksto I was wondering that too 👍

@miksto  @margarita_s88Yes, of course
The provide an additional instructions for each scan!

Kudos for releasing it both for iOS and Android! (I'm used to seeing such apps on PH made for iOS only...)
I also try to recycle so I appreciate your effort!

@margarita_s88 Margarita, thank you! Yes, it was crucial for us to launch on both iOS and Android! We know how many people use Android and we didn't want to leave anyone out :)

As someone who has traveled a lot, I know the confusion around bin colors and changing recycling rules. Being able to scan any item without relying on a barcode is very practical. This feels like one of those tools people will quietly rely on every day. Congrats for the launch!
