Rated 5 out of 5 by indie-hackers and techie founders who love building features and feel hesitant about marketing. Helped 100 founders to get >1000 signups and paying customers. https://www.anaspiringfounder.com/marketing-playbook-for-early-stage-founders
Hi, I'm Ana. For several years I've been volunteering as a mentor for the early-stage founders, and 99% of my conversations start with a founder asking me "How can I get customers for my product with a very limited budget?"
Why is this such a pain point? The answer is simple: if you are a founder with no or small experience in marketing your googling up anything on a startup marketing topic would end in one of the following options:
— you either land on a page that is very SEO-optimized and carries zero value in terms of actual content
— you get access to cases of companies like Google, Dropbox, Slack, etc.
It's fine if you have $65M to spend on customer acquisition (as PayPal did) but let's be honest — most of us don't have these budgets. Another problem is that most of the case studies that can be found in marketing-related literature or courses are horribly outdated. They were outdated by the time they became case studies. And they just don't work anymore because everyone uses them.
So the challenge becomes pretty clear: how to get the best results with limited resources that bootstrapped founders usually have, and stand out.
In my playbook I put together tactics that you can use and showed how other bootstrapped companies have been using them recently (in 2020 and 2021).
I also included a weekly planner with specific steps and anticipated level of conversion that you can use to plan your marketing activities.

@anab I've ordered my copy weeks ago and I have to say the ebook is fantastic! Good luck with the launch Ana!
Fantastic resource 👏
(And I'm not just saying that because I'm featured in it, heh).
Been following you for a good time now, and I'm getting a ton out of all the knowledge you share.
Please, keep it up!
And to anyone else reading here:
This playbook is *highly* recommended.
Congrats on the launch, Ana! 🚀
Let's face it: a product without marketing is just a toy project. As makers, we have to get the word out as soon as possible, ideally even before the product is actually built.
One area where I really lacked knowledge was marketing acquisition channels. I knew about ads, SEO, cold emails ... and that was pretty much it. Not everyone has a big budget for ads, though.
Ana's book taught me about other cost-effective options, which she wrote in a clear, non-academic way. This is one of those books that you refer back to whenever you need a fresh marketing approach. I definitely recommend it!
@balazsi_robert Thank you for your consistent support, Robert! And I can't agree more — it's not enough today to have a great product. Actually, I'd place this way: great product is impossible without great marketing! ☺️
