Dune is a Context-aware Keypad for Mac that sits next to your keyboard and changes what its three keys do in real time based on the app running in the foreground. Built for developers who live in GitHub, VS Code, Claude, Openclaw, and for anyone running AI agents or in back to back meetings on Zoom, Teams, and Google Meet.

What happens during a screen share when someone else can see your screen? Do the key labels show up on the Mac display or is that only visible to you?
Dune
@mandaaaaar For now yes, it will show up if your screen is being shared. But you do have an option of auto hiding the Dune prompts in the corner of your screen, so they will surface only if you hover over them.
the pre-loaded Claude and GitHub triggers are exactly what I'd use. does it handle running multiple AI tools at the same time, or does it lock to whichever one is in the foreground?
Dune
@jiang_nancy You can handle multiple tools at the same time, but the actions on Dune will change based on the App in foreground(as long as there are some actions set for that app). You can also change the priority of these apps, for example- if a Zoom meeting is live, Dune actions for meeting controls will take priority over any other app actions, so you could trigger mic, camera or bring the zoom window to the foreground using dune even while you are multitasking while in a meeting.
Open Wearables
the context-switching between Claude and VS Code is real. curious how it handles rapid app switching though - does it lag when you're jumping between terminal, browser, and editor quickly? we use Claude Code constantly and those millisecond delays add up when you're in flow state.
Dune
@piotr_pasierbek The Detection latency(to change actions when you switch to a new app) is 200–600ms depending on the system, 200ms is the typical case, 600ms on the slower end of hardware like for older Macbook Air devices. Since the software is polling the foreground app, so there's inherent system-dependency. Generally, we haven't seen early users notice or detect such a lag. But we're actively working to reduce this further.
What is the loudest the keys get? Hot desk life is real, and some of us have to be considerate.
Dune
@sourav_sheth1 Consider it about 2x louder than your mac keys, but that's also intentional. The button press makes you feel like you've triggered a larger action or accomplished a larger task. :)
We work at a co-working space and haven't seen people noticing the sounds of the keys, so this won't be a concern.
Is there a way to temporarily lock the keys so they stop remapping?
Dune
@joe_12 Yes, you can select custom actions for each key, lock the action so it doesn't change for any app, and even decide which apps could overpower these preset actions.

Great to a see an hardware product here especially the one that isn't gimmicky. Looks like a nice and simple alternative to Stream Deck. Congrats on the launch @apoorv_shankar
Couple of questions.
1) Any plans of introducing colors? Would love to have one that matches the exact colors of Macbook (so it isn't noticable ;) ). It isn't a deal breaker though.
2) Was planning to order today but curious to know where this will be shipped from? Would like to be prepared for customs and other charges too in case it is from SG/HK/CN etc.
Dune
@adithya Glad you liked it. Would love to learn what you use Dune for once you order.
1. On colors- There are already a few SKU's of Dune considering different mac sizes and heights, so to avoid operation complexity, we are only shipping Dune in 1 color for now. But a good idea :)
2. We are shipping this from Bangalore, India.

three keys seems minimal but probably smart. love that it's built specifically for the GitHub/VS Code/Claude workflow since that's our daily stack. wondering if there's any way to customize actions beyond what the AI suggests, or if it learns your patterns over time?
Dune
@piotreksedzik We have a pre-loaded set of actions which work with these apps and you can customize what each button does, within each app and have it setup in such a way that you see different actions in the morning vs noon. The Dune configuration tool also lets you connect your own scripts and agents so you could create really powerful custom workflows beyond keyboard shortcuts for each app.
