Monospace from Directus
Launching today
Monospace sits between enterprise data and everyone who builds on it. Connect any data source, and your developers, business teams, and AI agents get live, read-write access to it. All under the same granular permissions model, with no data copied or moved. Your oldest databases weren't built with AI or modern apps in mind. Monospace generates interfaces directly from them, as they are, introspecting the schema and queries in real time, so they don’t need to be rebuilt.

Hey all, I'm a Monospace engineer chiming in. We're thrilled to be launching the product today, since we finally get to share all the exciting functionality and polish the team has carefully put in. Be sure to check out the custom connectors and extensions that will allow you to handle most APIs you have today. We're very excited to see what you build with it!

@phkaznowski Thank you so much for the amount of work and care you have put into the product since joining us. I'm truly excited to see where we can take this product!
Directus
@phkaznowski They’re so sweet! Such a superpower have APIs and databases linked seamlessly and clicking through across everything. It’s a bit surreal to not have so many separate programs but just one really good one

I’m stoked it’s finally out 😁 I genuinely feel we’re the “Linear for data in enterprise”: a data UI that connects between databases and APIs, doesn’t get in your way, doesn’t have the quirks of other products — snappy.
Not many products are built by teams that understand both UX and enterprise, but this one is and I think it really shows ❤️ There’s such a difference between features that exist and features that work well and I really think this will let lots of teams go beyond!

@bgeron love it! you're in the right direction for sure, keep up the great work
The idea of a governed API layer for both apps and ai agents is pretty interesting especially with the no code side on top of SQL databases

Hey, I'm Gaetan, engineer at Monospace !
Really proud to finally share what we've been building. I've been working on both sides of the product, the Rust engine and the Studio, and what I love the most is how quickly you go from your database to a real API and an app your whole team can use.
Huge thanks to the team, it's been a crazy ride to get here. And to everyone trying it today: play with it, push it to its limits, ask the hard questions and tell us what's missing, we read everything !

Wow it’s been 2 years since the team first heard the vision back in Portugal. It’s so good to see it all come to fruition.

@phazonoverload Thanks Kevin! From Portugal to here, look at us!

Hey all, Max here, engineer on Monospace. Super excited to finally see this live! I worked on horizontal scaling so that performance keeps up with high demand. Really proud of what the team built!
Directus
@maxence_maire Max! Absolute pleasure building this with you!
Do you think companies should rebuild old databases for AI, or build an API layer on top of them?
Congrats @benhaynes & team!
Keep it up @fmerian !
Directus
@benhaynes @fmerian @hamza_afzal_butt I don't think companies should rebuild old databases at all. This is where Monospace actually comes into play. You can hook it up to any existing, old database and give your agents (and users) a well defined, permissioned layer on top of it. We automatically introspect the old data systems and you decide what to make available through the API.
You can keep your old systems in place and use Monospace as the fresh lick of paint for making sure AI does not overstep its bounds and you're not seeing a massive sprawl of "one off" integrations.
