I make a lot of videos for my own apps and products, and I was tired of jumping between apps: one for music, one for sound effects, one for stock footage, another to edit, then again to A/B test versions.
So I built Cutaway. You describe the edit in a sentence, like "open on the strongest line, cut every pause, captions 2-3 words at a time", and it cuts your own footage into a finished video. Then you get a full timeline where every cut, caption and transition it made is yours to change.
All your media lives in one project, so the next version is one sentence away
On iPhone, iPad and Mac
Launching here on Saturday
Curious: what's the edit you always put off? And would you rather the AI do the whole video, or just the first cut?
Hey Product Hunt š
I built Cutaway because I had to create many videos, DAILY.
AI video tools usually do one of two things: give you a fixed template, or hand back a finished video you can't really change. Cutaway does neither. You describe the edit in a sentence (type it or say it), it makes the cut from your own footage, and then you get a real timeline where every cut, caption, title and transition it made can be dragged, retimed or deleted.
A few things I cared about:
⢠Editing and export happen on your device. Your video files never leave it (only still frames).
⢠The whole manual editor is free: effects, speed ramps, transitions, sync to beat. No watermark, no ads.
⢠The AI runs on credits that roll over and never expire.
It's on iPhone, iPad and Mac (other platforms are coming soon).
I'd love to hear what you'd ask it to edit first, and where it gets your cut wrong. I'll be here all day answering.
PS: your first 50 credits are on me. Sign in and try the AI on your own footage, no card needed. One per person, while this month's free pool lasts.
