Ask ChatGPT or Perplexity "what should I use for X" and you get three names back. Those three come from pages the engine went and read at query time. CueScout runs about twelve real buyer questions from your category across both engines and reports which pages and domains actually got cited. The first version of this was a Reddit tool. I got four accounts permanently
banned doing the exact thing it told users to do, which killed the product but
left the interesting half behind: the engines were citing those threads, and
nobody could see which ones.
So it's read-only now. You give it a domain and a category, it runs about
twelve buyer questions across ChatGPT and Perplexity, and it comes back with
the pages and domains the engines cited, plus which of those rank in Google
and which don't. The gap is the part people don't expect. On the first account
I ran properly, 96 pages were being cited and 58 of them ranked nowhere, so
nothing in Ahrefs or Search Console would ever have shown them.
Two things it doesn't do, so nobody burns a scan finding out. It doesn't check
Google AI Overviews, because that needs a different collection method than the
other two and I'd rather say that than imply coverage I don't have. And it
never posts anywhere on your behalf.
The scan on the homepage is free and doesn't ask for an account. If you run it
and it tells you nothing useful, say so here. That's worth more to me today
than an upvote.
