My wife cooks a lot, and she'd tweak the same recipe over and over trying to get it just right, "a little less sugar this time", "five more minutes in the oven next time". The problem was she could never remember which version actually worked. She'd just overwrite her notes each time, or try to remember.
That's basically the whole reason I started building Cook Journal. every time you cook something again and change it, it saves that attempt as its own version instead of overwriting the last one. You can rate each try, leave a quick note on what you changed, and compare two side by side.
It's live now on iOS and Android if anyone wants to poke around.
But I am curious for those of you who cook a lot, how do you currently keep track of a recipe once you start adjusting it? Notes app, memory, a notebook? Would love to hear how other people handle this.
Hey Product Hunt! We built Cook Journal because we kept losing track of which version of a recipe actually turned out well, 'was it less butter or more that worked?' Every attempt now saves as its own version you can compare. Would love your feedback happy to answer anything about how it works!"
