Here’s why I built Risk Radar AI — and how my approach completely changed along the way. The problem: I almost signed a freelance contract that had 60-day payment terms, unlimited revisions, and full IP transfer. I didn’t realize how bad it was until I showed someone. Most freelancers don’t have that luxury. My naive first thought: Just build an AI that spits out “this clause is risky.” I did that in a weekend. What I learned after launching: No one wanted a “risk score.” They wanted to know exactly what to change and what to say in negotiation. My tool was accurate but not actionable. The pivot: I rewrote the AI to output exact replacement wording, negotiation scripts, and clear next steps. I also added a simple “Danger Score” so users could immediately gauge severity. Now: It’s less about “AI analysis” and more about giving freelancers back their confidence and time. Still early, but learning daily from users.
