Most screen time apps just block distractions, but Clema goes further. Clema is an AI screen time companion that uses psychology to help you break the habits that keep you scrolling. When you want to unblock social media, you'll pause and check in with Clema first. This check in will shift your brain out of doomscrolling mode, so you use your phone with purpose, not just out of habit.

Hi Product Hunt!
I built Clema to cure my own doomscrolling addiction: https://www.tryclema.com/
I've spent years figuring out how to fix my own scrolling problems. In the beginning, I tried things like going cold turkey, dopamine detoxes, app blockers, and getting more hobbies. All of these things worked temporarily, but I eventually went back to my old ways.
Once I understood how tech companies hook users, I was able to reverse-engineer their tactics and break free from my own tech addiction.
Here's what actually works:
1. Every time you get the urge to scroll, note down the emotion that triggered it (boredom, procrastination, etc).
2. Ask yourself: "If I scroll for 20 minutes, how will that make me feel after? Will scrolling fix the negative emotions that I am feeling right now?"
3. Ask yourself: “What small step can I take instead of scrolling to help me reach my goals? Will doing that make me feel better than scrolling?”
This process shifts your brain from Zone 1 thinking (impulsive, emotional) to Zone 2 thinking (rational, deliberate), rewiring your brain to make better choices and build healthier habits.
You can do this on your own, but Clema automates the process by blocking the apps for you and forcing you to answer questions like these before proceeding.
