ClaudeUsageMonitor is a free native macOS menu-bar app that tracks your Claude.ai usage in real time β no API key needed. See your burn rate, time left before reset, and weekly limits at a glance. Get notified at 75%, 90%, 95%. Smart tips help you optimize before you run out. No setup. Just drag to Applications.

Hey PH! π
I built this because I kept hitting Claude's usage limits mid-conversation with no warning β then had to wait 5 hours to continue.
Claude Usage Monitor lives in your macOS menu bar and shows your session % and weekly % at a glance. An exact reset countdown and burn rate indicator help you plan your workflow before you get cut off.
No API key needed. It embeds a hidden WebView that intercepts Claude's internal API responses β the same data shown on claude.ai/settings/usage, just always visible in your menu bar.
Free, open source, MIT licensed. Works with Free, Pro, Team, and Max plans.
Would love your feedback β especially if you hit edge cases with the usage data.
π v2.0.0 is out!
The biggest change: the app no longer scrapes the Claude.ai page with a hidden WebView + JS injection. It now calls Claude's internal REST API directly β faster, more reliable, and won't break when the page changes.
What's new:
Direct API calls (no more DOM scraping)
Sonnet usage bar (Max plan)
Extra usage bar in credits
Cleaner menu bar β shows % instead of estimated time
Big thanks to DukeOfCheese for proposing the API migration and the new bars β these were the core ideas behind this update.
As always, free and open source: github.com/theDanButuc/Claude-Usage-Monitor
π οΈ v1.6.0 just dropped!
Shoutout to @DukeOfCheese for reporting the Extra Usage bug with clear reproduction steps β much appreciated!
What was fixed: when Extra Usage was active on your plan, the app was reading the wrong progress bar and showing incorrect data. It's now fixed and displays everything correctly β weekly limit and Extra Usage each in their right place.
