Carpooly uses industry-standard emission factors to calculate your environmental impact:
Average Vehicle Emissions: We use EPA data showing the average car emits 404 grams of CO2 per mile
Distance Calculation:
We track the actual distance of your carpool rides
Use Google Maps API for accurate route distances
Account for multiple passengers sharing the same vehicle

Excellent work @nikhil_cidambi ! I think it will be great if your application can also potentially analyze and share traffic density statistics for major freeways. For example, on Google maps I can set departure times on certain days and it gives me a projected time based on traffic trends. So, I will able to plan my rides when traffic is light.
