Most sleep apps tell you to "put your phone down and be consistent." That doesn't work for restless, ADHD-style brains. Captain Nightcap takes a different approach — instead of discipline, it gives you methods: breathing exercises, brain dumps, story mode, soundscapes. Something to DO while falling asleep. No guilt for bad nights. No rigid routines. Just tools that make bedtime interesting. Free Android APK. Built by someone with ADHD, for everyone who lies awake staring at the ceiling.
I built this because I have ADHD and every sleep app told me
to "be consistent" — which never worked. Captain Nightcap
gives you something to DO while falling asleep. No guilt,
no rigid routines. Just methods that work for restless brains.

the brain dump idea is great but i lose half my thoughts by morning - could you make the morning after automatically show a little recap of last night's brain dump in the app? would help spot patterns in what keeps me wired at 3am

Have you considered adding a gentle wake-up alarm that uses the same story/soundscape style so the whole bedtime-to-morning loop feels consistent. Something like fading back into the story audio at a set time would be a nice touch for restless sleepers.

the brain dump thing actually helped me stop rehearsing tomorrow's to-do list, which is usually what keeps me up. story mode is a nice touch too, kinda like a calmer version of those reddit nosleep readings i used to fall asleep to.

The "brain dump" feature is such a smart call, exactly the kind of thing that actually helps when your mind is racing instead of generic meditation fluff. Nice work building something that gets how restless brains actually work at night.
