What does the back-and-forth look like in practice — how many iterations does a typical project go through?

I teach a film studies class at a community college and I've been looking for something I could put in front of students who have great ideas but zero production budget. Most AI video tools are too disconnected from actual filmmaking concepts — they're prompt engineering tools dressed up as creative tools.
