Buy Me a Coffee is a beautiful way for creators to accept one-time and monthly support from their fans. Without stitching together a bunch of apps like Patreon, Mailchimp, and a donate button — you can accept support, memberships, and build a direct relationship with your fans. Your fans are going to love it.

Review Buy Me a Coffee?
Reviewers see Buy Me a Coffee as easy to set up and useful for simple creator needs like tips, digital products, memberships, and direct messages, with some saying the brand helps supporters feel comfortable donating. But the strongest recurring criticism is payouts: many users report delayed or blocked withdrawals, account suspensions, refund disputes, and slow or absent support. A smaller group says verification or support issues were eventually resolved, yet overall sentiment is split because a simple, liked tool is undermined by trust and payment problems.

Terrible experience with Buy Me a Coffee. If you’re thinking of bringing your donors to this platform, consider this a warning. Their customer service is practically non-existent; email responses can take weeks, and they’ll likely suspend your account for no reason. I had my Chase account connected with all the required verification details, yet there was nobody to actually talk to. As a result, my donors are now disputing the payments they made, and I’m left at a loss while trying to move everything over to another platform. Stay away.

I've used Buy Me A Coffee for over 3 years and it's been really helpful for my donation based Zoom classes. I also get the odd coffee bought for me, from my YouTube content. Recently, my account hadn't been used, so I had to re-verify some things, which took maybe 5 working days to confirm and it was all good. I like that I can message people directly on there, rather than use an email address, like I was doing on PayPal - Feels safer to me.
Found out about BMC from a favorite art youtuber, I love the platform itself! Though if you're planning to switch to it, don't be like me and do it right when you're desperate for money due to an emergency or anything, It has been almost a week and still can't make my first withdrawl - and I have filled out my information extensively and have not recieved any emails about missing something, so I imagine their team may be overwhelmed.
Payout has been pending for weeks despite completed verification. Support acknowledged my documents but hasn’t released the funds and has stopped responding to follow-ups. Very disappointed.

vs Alternatives
Because I didn’t know better. Should have checked reviews.
I will give it 5 stars because it's easy to use and straight forward, I've had some misunderstanding in the past, where my account got locked but after communicating via email with their staff (Aleesha John) the problem was fixed and my account was reactivated. I recommend! Great support/staff! Also their fees are pretty low!
Buy Me a Coffee is a trustworthy platform to receive donations from your fans and also sell your products. Although my first payout was delayed, I eventually got paid. I must admit the payment came as a surprise as I'd already concluded I'd never receive it. So the platform can be trusted.
Has anyone been able to get any money paid by them? I was not able to withdraw something like €5. The replies about people violating their terms and not providing enough evidence is a total lie. I am actually very surprised to see that they answer to comments on here, regardless of what kind of communication you send them (evidence or emails etc.) they never reply to you.
Anyways, if you're ever able to get a withdrawal from them, what's the point using them since they use Stripe with extra fees on top and zero customer service? You'll be better off going direct with Stripe where you'll end up with more in your bank account after withdrawal and you get a real customer service that's there to resolve any issues if you ever have some!
Kofi, Cashapp, Crypto are all better than this.
A sketchy company with poor customer service (based in the Phillipines).
As poor as the alternatives are I can't say that BuyMeACoffee is any better.
They are just as unaccountable as those other companies and frankly even worse.
Your money might get caught in limbo or perhaps things will work perfectly.
Payments to some creators work and some creators don't. All with no explanation, despite weeks of back and forth with customer service (text-based in the Philippines).
I hope that some ambitious entrepreneur comes out with alternative to PayPal and the rest of the hopelessly unaccountable 100% remote companies like this.
Dan, our moderation team deactivates accounts only after a careful three-step review. Mistakes are rare, and deactivation usually occurs if there's a violation of our Terms of Service or an unverifiable use-case.
After any deactivation, we email the creator with the reasons, and if there's a remaining balance, it's refunded to the supporters for security reasons. Thus, your claim about holding your amount is invalid.
Even if I ignore all your unsubstantiated claims, your offensive remarks do not really deserve a reply. Yes, two of our team members (out of 30) are from Philippines. What does it have anything to do with your experience?
From now on, I told all me members to please stop donating at me via the "Buy Me a Coffee" site; they scammed my money. As you can see, that site is designed for a donation system that created an account to receive donations from random people, and now they will ask me for proof of where I got the donation, etc. like WT! Why did they ask? It's always our privacy who donated to us! and it's not their business since they are deducting our money for fees!
Hi Faqka, as you mentioned you have all the freedom to collect donations from random people. However, our responsibility as a company is to maintain a safe environment for all our creators.
When an account shows a high rate of failed or blocked transactions, we may request additional details. This isn't an invasion of privacy but rather a precaution to protect both you and our platform from potential fraudulent activities, such as money laundering or credit card fraud.
We don't seek personal information about you or your supporters. Instead, we ask about the nature of your business and your use-case to ensure compliance with our Terms of Service (TOS). Also, I can see that your account is already approved by our moderation team.
This is a very useful website. I wish I could just search for my other friends or for other users easily without having the link to their profile. Also website has some problems with withdrawal options but they have a very kind and helpful customer services. They solved my problem as soon as possible so I’ll keep using the website. Thank you
