I'm Natalie, an engineer who got tired of text-to-CAD.
They all make up geometry. I wanted the opposite: trace what's really there, and use AI only where it helps.
Upload a photo, sketch, scan or PDF and get an editable DXF and SVG you can cut, mill or print. Converting is free, so try as many as you like.
I started with building scan-to-CAD, but 2D worked first, so I'm launching that. Bevell Sketchpad is in beta, and 3D is next.

Are there plans to support more complex curved components beyond mostly flat shapes?

@ryankeller Thanks for the question, Ryan. Today, Bevell is optimised for 2D. Sketchpad (beta) can extrude, cut and fillet those profiles into simple prismatic 3D parts and cases that you can export as STL as a starting point.
In the future, the goal is to support curved, freeform parts with more features like lofts and sweeps, beyond simple prismatic shapes. Bevell actually started as a scan-to-CAD project, but 2D worked first, so that's what I launched.
How much cleanup is usually needed before sending the file to a CNC machine?

A clean scan, drawing or PDF using Direct Trace, or a photo of a part on a plain background using Outline Only, usually needs little to no cleanup.
For lower-quality inputs, such as photos with noisy or busy backgrounds, Bevell will route you to AI Redraw. This redraws the part rather than measuring it directly, so I'd recommend double-checking any critical dimensions.
Either way, always give the output a quick look in your CAM before you manufacture.
