Hi Product Hunt! 👋 I built aTV RC because I use Android but still have an Apple TV, and I wanted a simple way to control it without needing an iPhone or iPad nearby. Most of the options I found either required payment or offered only limited functionality. So I started building my own remote. What began as a basic controller gradually grew into aTV RC, with direct Apple TV pairing, app controls, and the ability to cast screen from an Android to Apple TV over the local network — all without installing a companion app on the Apple TV or relying on an external server. A lot of the development involved researching how Apple TV communicates, experimenting with different approaches, and figuring out how to make everything work reliably on Android. aTV RC is now available on Google Play, and I’d really appreciate any feedback, ideas, or questions.
