Instead of writing mock data files or setting up complex mock servers, I wanted to just tell Claude Code or Cursor "I need a user management API" and have it work instantly. - Zero setup - Natural language - "Add a POST endpoint that creates users" → Done - Persistent - Your APIs survive restarts and work across projects - Real - Proper HTTP codes, CORS, error simulation Try it: claude mcp add api-mockingbird npx api-mockingbird@latest (Also works on all other MCP clients) Then just ask Claude Code: "Start an api-mockingbird server on port 4000", "Add /api/test", "Set error on the endpoint" Then you can develop getting responses from the server without writing mockup code.
