I got tired of re-digging through 10-Qs every earnings season to answer "how much are Microsoft/Google/Amazon/Meta actually spending on capex this quarter" — every writeup used a different number and none of them said where it came from. Two things I want to be upfront about since they matter: it's total capex, not an "AI capex" estimate, and it excludes finance leases.
