Congrats @zhuyxn and @noahsark769 on Alchemy! Having worked with a few friends on designing and launching a Shopify store virtually, "Collaborate with your team on design + code + content" is super exciting to me!

Tysm for the support! Starting and managing a Shopify store can be super overwhelming. Having started a drop-ship business previously, one thing that would have really helped us was being able to collaborate with my team in and out of "code". Even as a developer, if I wanted to update copy, I didn't really wanna mess with code/templates 😬 The most critical thing for us to fit seamlessly into a team's existing workflow, and anyone (marketer, developer, designer) can feel empowered to build

Thanks @robjama for hunting us! πŸ‘‹ Hi ProductHunt! We’ve been thinking a ton about no-code while working on e-commerce products @ Facebook, Uber, and Yelp. We’re super excited to share what we’ve been working on with Alchemy. Problem: 😭 E-commerce brands are stuck paying a ton for developers or navigating the pandemonium of templates, page-builders, clunky apps, and last decade’s web technology 😀 Teams can’t deliver the experience and content they want because existing themes and apps aren’t extensible and don’t talk to one another πŸ‘€ β€œHeadless” solutions force brands to spend months replatforming and require developer hand-holding How Alchemy can help: 1️⃣ Alchemy is the first no-code storefront builder that integrates into your existing Shopify store and favorite 3rd-party apps with minimum effort (no re-platforming required) 🎨 Design and launch completely customizable experiences from landing pages to complex add-ons like polls, bundles, and subscriptions ☎️ Connect everything through a single API β€” Read/write data from Shopify, CMS, and dozens of integrations; program logic and workflows without code 🌎 Our goal is to make e-commerce easier for makers. Anyone can build and share plug-and-play components built on Alchemy Thanks for stopping by! If you work with a brand or you're interested in learning more, email me at noah.w.gilmore at gmail.com or DM me on Twitter for virtual coffee!

@robjama @gmail @noahsark769 Looks interesting so far. Wondering about the final product.

Great UX design @noahsark769 Do you plan to have A/B testing feature at some point?
Noah Gilmore
@eugenehp absolutely, in fact we’ve already got that in development! One of the ways you’ll be able to make Alchemy components dynamic is based on the cohort of whatever AB test the user is in. Also, all Alchemy components come with analytics out of the box, so even if you’re not AB testing, you can check conversion rates of buttons etc with 0 clicks (frequent request we got from users)
Eugene Hauptmann
@noahsark769 Sweet! If you can wire up Google Analytics / Segment / Mixpanel to those components, that would be really great!
Noah Gilmore
@eugenehp that’s the plan!

Great work! I like this modular/component based approach.. How else does it compare to other page builders?
Noah Gilmore
@rahul_shah Great question! There are lots of page builders in the Shopify app store, but most require you to create new pages (or import them): Alchemy works out of the box with any page so it's super easy to put a product upsell right into your existing blog article, for example (all without changing your Shopify theme) Also, Alchemy integrates tightly with your store's data, so it's super easy to make text or a button dynamic (e.g. only display text if cart is above a total order value) - we've heard feedback that this kind of thing is super hard in existing page builders.

Congrats on the launch! Great progress and I really love what you are working on
Noah Gilmore
@charles_naut Thanks Charles, we appreciate the support!
Sanchit Bareja
Love this idea! What are some examples of what you can build with this?
Noah Gilmore
@sanchit_bareja1 Good question - we want to enable building pretty much any web experience with Alchemy, but two examples that have worked well with the users we're prototyped with: - Dropping a product upsell into an existing SEO/CMS page, for example having a recipe page where you sell one of the ingredients. This component can be dropped into any page and configured easily for a different product relevant to the recipe - Building promotional launch pages for new products: we've talked with users who want to promote new product launches with a different experience than a their theme's PDP (super useful for advertising campaign landing pages), and Alchemy allows them to do this really easily, without having to edit the theme code. Users can even build interactive components like carousels etc on these pages!
Hannah Yan
This looks great! What sorts of third parties do you integrate with?
Yuxin Zhu
@hannah_yan Tysm! Traditional landing page builders work really well for landing pages, but aren't really scalable to handle non-static content. Alchemy lets you pull data from reviews, subscriptions, loyalty apps, as well as your CMS + analytics services and use it anywhere on your page. Today, If you want to add reviews on your PDP or blog, or remind users to use their loyalty points, you're stuck using either what the app has or writing custom code to retrieve data yourself. Even as a developer this was really frustrating to me because every app was slightly different or had weird gotchas. There's actually a ton of REALLY good apps on Shopify, and our goal is to enable brands to have more control around how they're used.
