Boston's fire alarm boxes turned into a game. Walk to one, photograph the number, claim it. You're also fixing Boston's data. 1,400+ boxes to find. A real-world scavenger hunt and civic mapping project. Boston installed the world's first municipal fire alarm telegraph in 1852, built by Dr. William F. Channing and Moses G. Farmer, more than two decades before the telephone. A lot of these boxes still work. Now you can actually see them - and help make sure the data is right.
