I use Airtop for browser automation inside my lead gen workflows, mostly the stuff that sits behind a login where no API exists. The part that sold me is Agent Builder compiling the automation into reusable code instead of making an LLM re-reason through the same page on every run, which keeps runs fast and predictable at volume. The n8n and Claude Code connections meant I could drop it into what I already had running without rebuilding anything, and the password vault plus built-in proxies removed most of the infrastructure work I was dreading.

What needs improvement

Credit consumption is hard to predict before you run something, so a cost estimate in the builder before you deploy would help a lot when you are testing variations. I would also like deeper visibility into why an agent chose a particular step during a run, since self-healing is great but you still want to understand what changed on the page. More templates for niche portals would speed up the first build too.

vs Alternatives

I looked at running Playwright and Puppeteer myself, plus a couple of the cloud browser providers. Self-hosting works until you hit authentication, CAPTCHAs, and proxy rotation, and then you are maintaining infrastructure instead of shipping the actual automation. Airtop handled all of that out of the box and gave me a chat interface to describe the workflow, so I got to a working agent in an afternoon rather than a week.

What's great

I use it to drive real browser sessions for agent workflows where a headless script gets blocked or a site expects an actual logged in session. having the browser live in the cloud instead of on my own machine means the agent can keep working without tying up my laptop, and the profiles persist between runs so I'm not re-logging in every session.

What needs improvement

pricing per session adds up fast once you're running several agents in parallel like I do, would like a cheaper tier for short lived sessions that only need a couple minutes of live browser time instead of paying the same rate as a long running one

vs Alternatives

before this I was just running Playwright/Puppeteer myself on a VM and hand rolling the anti detection and session persistence, which works until a site specifically fingerprints headless chrome and you're back to debugging why a click silently does nothing.

Airtop is very promising but the auth is not working for a UK site that I need to connect to. The site is returning me to the login page when I use the Airtop profile. The Airtop team have advised that this may be because the proxy is US-based and the site is a UK site. There is a feature in the pipeline to allow the proxy region to be selected. If that works and I can get the workflow to work reliably, I'll happily update the rating to 5 stars as it's a great concept, and the implementation and design seem very slick. The playground, AI prompt enhancement and make.com integration are all awesome features.
