Which Vercel product did you use? What new capability did it give your team, and how did that shape the product you launched?

Next.js (App Router), the open-source framework from Vercel. It let a very small team ship a full web companion to our mobile app from a single codebase, with no separate web backend. Route Handlers act as a thin BFF in front of our existing API, so the browser never talks to it directly and the API host stays server-side. Server Components, generateMetadata and dynamic Open Graph images make every event page fast, indexable and shareable, and that shaped the product: on 2gather, an event is a link. Hosts create an event in the browser, it appears instantly in the mobile app, and the shared link renders a rich preview and opens the app when it is installed. The built-in image optimizer also keeps our event map light, even with heavy cover photos.

Everyone is on their phone watching other people's nights instead of having their own. The intent to go out is still there, it just dies in the group chat. That is the problem we started from: not finding events, Paris has hundreds of them, but the gap between wanting to go out and finding someone with whom to go out. Nobody wants to show up alone, nobody wants to be the one who keeps insisting, and the plan stops at "maybe". Three apps had already solved one piece each. Tinder made meeting people low-stakes. WhatsApp made coordination instant. Airbnb made strangers trust each other enough to sleep in someone's home. 2gather puts the three together around a single night: you see what is happening around you, you lock the plan in one tap with a friend or a new connection within the app, and on the other side there are venues and hosts who transform locations in experiences.
