Hey Product Hunt 👋 Matt back again.
I think the keyboard is becoming the bottleneck.
I built Wand because my best ideas don’t start with my hands on a keyboard. They start with me pacing around my room, talking too fast, changing my mind halfway through a sentence, ranting into my phone about this crazy concept that popped in my head.
That’s how I actually build.
Wand is an attempt to make the computer keep up.
I built Wand itself largely without a keyboard, which is probably the part I’m most excited about. The product is proof of the idea, and, I hope, an early glimpse of a post-keyboard era for builders.
This is the beta. There’s a lot more I want to build, and I’m excited to finally get it into other people’s hands.

@matthewschapiro Interesting concept, but I wish the website showed me a bit more how it will actually work, or what I should expect before I sign-up. Your video here could have been a bit more informative rather then just talking about the problem. I mean now I'm curious, so I still tried it, but again.. I don't know what to do. What can it do? Build a website, send an email? So far it's browser only so is it just a voice-to-text generic AI for this version?

I built Wand around my own workflow - pacing around, talking through an idea, figuring out what I actually mean, then turning that into something an AI builder can execute.
The concrete difference is the phone + screen experience as well as the prompt generation logic. Your phone captures your thoughts while the larger screen organizes them as you talk. You can shape the idea, turn it into a build prompt, and send it directly to v0 without breaking that flow.
For the past two years, I’ve been training an AI on how to listen to somebody think out loud, understand what I’m trying to communicate, and turn that into a strong build prompt. Wand brings that logic into the app.
It’s designed to follow a messy brainstorm, organize and explain the idea back to you in real time, and prepare it specifically for v0 to build.
Even if you’re already good at prompting, you’re still doing that translation yourself. Wand is my attempt to give you an agent that understands that process and does it with you, in real-time.
It’s early, and I’m still figuring out how far this goes. As somebody who is building a lot of things across a bunch of GitHubs, this is the workflow I want for myself!

I really love the voice input idea and was intrigued by the phone as a mic. I got a little distracted with the race button in the bottom left. It looks like you built a full racing game?!
Does the building actually work, or is it proof of concept? It seems really slow right now.

Why did you decide to use the phone as a microphone controller? Is the idea so that you could walk around the house or go, or control the build when you're on the go?
Do you plan to do anything special around the actual build process, or are you focusing mostly on dispatch?

@rajiv_ayyangar I always have my best ideas when I'm pacing around a room. For some reason being in motion really helps me.
i'm building apps now by exclusively talking to my phone - then having an agent decipher and turn into either a initialization prompt (one-shot) or a refinement prompt if I'm improving something.
that process still requires me to copy and paste things between windows; my goal with Wand is that I can do everything just by talking into my phone.
rather than manage a few different AI platforms I'm bringing it all together in an ultimate platform for myself.
anybody else that is building on @v0 by Vercel and @Vercel will benefit from this in my opinion!

@matthewschapiro whats the advantage over say remote controlling Claude Code or using voice mode on Codex?
I’m curious to understand what UX unlock you’re going for

@rajiv_ayyangar the quality of the resulting prompt from the voice memo.
When i use voice within v0 or Codex, the resulting prompt isn't being formatted into the optimal output to get the best result in the most efficient manner.
if im voice transcribing directly into v0 or Codex, im intentionally "voice prompting" - every word is intentional
with my method its way more of a stream-of-consciousness idea capture - which is perfect for when an idea just sparks in my head but i havent even had time to fully digest it yet.
my first instinct is to grab the phone, rant about it for 5+ minutes or however long it takes, and the output is amazing.
with vibe coding i find that how far you get in your first pass is critical. this method allows people to get way further, faster.

@matheus_paranhos1 thank you! it's integrated directly with @v0 by Vercel and @Vercel. Wand also uses Vercel's AI Gateway so I'll be able to allow users to select which model and thinking level they want.
this is my personal workflow so it's really custom built for me in the beginning. i find it amazing - the things I can build are insane.
i highly recommend this workflow for both non-developers and developers. i'm convinced it's the fastest way to build something.
my north star is being able to stand in a room with screens around me, talk, and get work done without constantly copying and pasting between tools.
software creation/management is gonna be the first feature; I’m building my ultimate productivity tool so there's a lot more coming.
the build is a work in progress today - the rest of my team is going to make the product so much better. can't wait to share what we're cooking up.
i'm also excited to see what other people want to do with it will help shape where it goes next.

Ok! I tried Wand having never used v0 and it actually made an app! It's funny b/c I normally plan my projects by talking into chatgpt and exporting md files to cursor, so using the phone as the "wand" shortcut a step which i love. I still miss my text editor, but we'll see if i get over it.

OoOoohhh.. I really dig this dead-simple interface, onboarding, user flow and gigantic buttons I can't miss when I know I'd be fumbling around to capture a thought. I can also kinda relate to wanting more when it comes to talk to text on a computer. Mac just doesn't nail it at the moment which always frustrates me.
Excellent build sir! Looking forward to see where you take it in the future. It's already a joy to use now and kinda fun. 🤟
