The Inspiration I kept noticing the same pattern with local businesses: they deliver great service and have loyal customers, yet their online ratings don’t reflect that reality. The reason is simple: happy customers usually leave quietly, while unhappy ones are far more likely to post public reviews. The Problem Most business owners hesitate to ask for reviews because they fear negative feedback. There was no “safety net”, no simple, automated way to manage feedback intelligently. Owners couldn’t amplify positive experiences publicly while addressing complaints privately. Meanwhile, customers rely heavily on online reviews when searching for the best nearby salon, café, or store. Without reviews, attracting first-time customers becomes significantly harder. This gap is exactly the friction the tool is designed to remove. The Evolution & Process What started as a simple redirect tool quickly evolved into something much more thoughtful: Smart Filtering A static link wasn’t enough. The system needed logic automatically send 4–5 star ratings to Google to drive growth, while routing 1–3 star feedback to a private form for improvement. Physical to Digital Since most customer interactions happen offline, customizable gradient QR codes were introduced to seamlessly connect in-store experiences with online reviews. Actionable Data Preventing negative public reviews wasn’t the end goal. Businesses needed insight into why issues were occurring. This led to the “Issue Tracking” feature, which groups recurring problems like long wait times or rude staff, turning negative feedback into a clear roadmap for operational improvement.
