Quietude is a minimalist focus timer that listens to your environment in real time. When noise crosses your threshold, the session automatically resets, training you to protect your silence. Over time, it helps you build deeper recovery, calmer mind, and more stable focus.

👋
I’m indie-dev and just released new ios app: Quietude.
Why? - For a long time, focus felt like something I had to force, but the more I read about how the brain works, the more I realized it doesn’t just need “fewer distractions” - it needs quiet
I started an experiment: carving out small blocks of pure quiet every day - no music, no podcasts, no background chatter. The effect was good: my anxiety dropped and my ability to get into flow came back.
Quietude was born from that experiment. Most timers are blind to your environment - they count down no matter how noisy it gets. Quietude listens. It uses your device’s mic to monitor noise locally in real time (nothing is recorded or sent anywhere), and if the volume crosses your threshold, the session resets and gently trains you to protect your silence
* I'll clarify that I've tried to make this process less stressful: you can cancel the timer restart if it wasn't your fault(a cat meowed or a car drove loudly past the window), and I've also created a mode where I simply count the percentage of silence from the session without restarting the timer.
Inside Quietude:
- Minimal, calm UI inspired by Nordic design.
- Privacy‑first audio processing done fully on‑device.
- HealthKit integration: successful sessions are saved as Mindful Minutes.
Launch gift: the first 200 users get Lifetime Pro in exchange for honest feedback.
I’d love to hear what you think about the “noise‑reset” idea. Does the world feel too loud for you too — and would something like this help you carve out real quiet in your day?
