I built Latency.global out of frustration.
A few years ago, I discovered our API was taking 4-5 seconds to respond in Singapore — while our monitoring dashboard showed everything green. We were only checking from Frankfurt. We had no idea 40% of our users were having a terrible experience.
When I looked for a solution, I hit a wall:
- Budget tools: 5-10 locations, mostly US/EU, 5min interval checks
- Enterprise tools: 50+ locations, but $200-500/month
I wanted global coverage without needing a fundraising round to justify it.
So I built it. 70+ locations. Starting at $5/month.
What surprised me were the second-order effects:
🔥 Cache warming — Our checks keep DNS, CDN, and TLS caches warm globally. Users "draft" behind our probes. We measured 40% faster TTFB in monitored regions.
📈 SEO improvement — Googlebot crawls from multiple countries. Regional slowdowns hurt Core Web Vitals. We saw rankings improve within 6 weeks after fixing issues we detected.
