What do you think? …

Amrith
This is clever, @katamari 🙌 Is there any way I can discover other garage sales on the platform?
David Andersson
@amrith Thanks, great comment. No, not at the moment. And this is actually intentional. The idea is that you control your sale. I found that in many cases you want to just sell to a closer circle of people. If you have closer connection to the potential buyers (friends, or friends of friends) the sale feels more secure and trustworthy from both parties (both buyer and seller) which makes the sales easier. More about my point of view can be read in the medium post https://medium.com/@KatamariDave... With that said, it is still an MVP/Beta, and in the future a searchable marketplace might be highly relevant. That kind of thing would however require a substantial/critical mass of users, but who knows :)

Interesting idea David. Why would someone choose Diggsweep over posting on FB Marketplace, or just posting that they have something for sale as a FB status?
David Andersson
@daviswbaer Thanks for the comment Davis! A more detailed answer to your question can be found in the above mentioned medium post: https://medium.com/@KatamariDave... But to summarise. Diggsweep is not meant to compete with Facebook Marketplace, Ebay etc. If you only have one or two things that you want to get maximum amount for, traditional marketplaces are probably a much better option. Diggsweep is for when you have a lot of things you want to sell at one occasion, such as when you are moving out or having a spring cleaning sale. You want to be able to show all your things together, which aren’t as convenient in Facebook marketplace, buy & sell groups, eBay etc. If you look at any common buy & sell group on Facebook you will see attempts to combine items into one single post which doesn’t work very well. Having a Diggsweep created sale page to share here would be much more optimal (I’ve tried it myself with great success).

Good idea. I can see how many Garage sales happening around Hollywood during a weekend. Is there any sort of integration with Nextdoor or other local communities?
David Andersson
@vignesh_tronics I’m actually not that familiar with Nextdoor, but at the moment we have yet to do any external integrations or partnerships. Diggsweep is made for easy sharing (with a unique URL) so we hope it is easy enough for now to share the link in local communities and social media. But I would love to see a closer collaboration with other great projects and communities in the future, that is something to think about for sure. Thanks for the tip!

like olx advertise, I like.

Wonderful product, it might even be a good replacement for instagram (there are tons of "garage sales" profiles there). But I am curious: how do you make money? It seems everything is free.
David Andersson
@aviggiano Glad you like it! Yeah, I hope Diggsweep has a bit more to offer than the typical Instagram garage sale even if those have their own merits. At the moment it is all free as we are focused on accumulating users and test out the platform as much as possible. But we have of course thought about ways of monetisation in the future. For example it could be: Advertising (think WIX’s free tier) Probably the easiest to implement, but I really dislike banners in general. Paid tiers Either limit the free tier to for example x amount of items, or x amount of sale value, or we add features that only applies to paid tiers. Offer enterprise versions If there is a growing interest of businesses wanting to create their custom designed “sales page” under their own domain. But for now that is all hypothetical. Depending on how the users uses the platform and what feedback we get all could change :)

Love it

@gregisenberg Great to hear :)
