Chugs is a reading tracker designed with a bold neo-brutalist aesthetic. It focuses purely on your personal reading habit with distraction-free timers, GitHub-style heatmaps, visual timelines, and a dedicated tool for capturing quotes. No social bloat—just you and the book.

Hi Product Hunt community 👋

I'm the developer behind Chugs.

A while ago, I was trying to get serious about my reading habit. I wanted a way to track my daily progress, visualize my streaks, and save the quotes that really mattered to me. Naturally, I downloaded all the popular apps.

But I quickly realized they all had the same problem: they felt like social networks.

Instead of focusing on the book, I was bombarded with social feeds, "likes," and cluttered recommendations. I found myself spending more time managing my profile than actually reading.

I looked for an alternative, but everything was either too complex or too ugly. So, I decided to build the tool I needed: a "selfish" reading tracker.

Chugs helps you focus on what matters:

  • GitHub-style Heatmaps: To visualize your consistency at a glance.

  • Focus Timer: A distraction-free screen that records your time, calculates your reading speed, and seamlessly logs your progress so you can just read.

  • Home Screen Widgets: To keep your habit visible with widgets for weekly streaks, favorite quotes, and your latest sessions.

  • Quotes Corner: To build a personal collection of the phrases that truly resonated with you.

I built this to help me focus on my habits, not a feed. I’d love to hear your thoughts!
