    Pros:

Clean interface, markdown editor, link to other notes, unique hashtag categorization system, one of the few note apps that doesn't need clou

    Cons:

note linking process is a little clunky, can't customize or pin favorites in tag folder order

I searched high and low for a replacement to the Mac OS default Notes app, which is incredibly limited in functionality and insufficient for my needs. I had one twist - I needed to find a note taking app for Mac that did not sync or store notes in the cloud. Bear does just that and it happens to be great. I really enjoy the hashtag categorization system and ability to have multiple tags on a note. It's a twist on Evernote style tags, but with a lighter-weight style of notebook organization and management.

    Pros:

Looks beautiful, base version free with premium features

    Cons:

    only on App store

Can't really say much because I'm Windows/Android guy, only that it looks great and PLEASE make it for more platforms, may I suggest a PWA or electron app

    Pros:

Clean and simple, ability to tag notes, markdown capability

    Cons:

Lists with checkbox on my iPhone show up in markdown on my mac. The checkboxes are not there. I find this annoying.

Overall I love Bear. It is beautifully designed. I love the simple interface and the ability to tag notes is amazing. It makes searching for old notes so much easier. This is better than Apple Notes and I love it so much more than Evernote.

    Pros:

Remarkable interface, concise organization logic, markdown compatibility,

    Cons:

    Data may be lost

At one point data has magically disappeared: some amount of notes, poetry, ideas have gone. Backup files didn't work. Customer support didn't care. Taking care of plain text data shoulnd't be that difficult in the 21st century. :(

    Pros:

    Markdown made easy, and portable

    Cons:

    Where's tables?

Great color schemes, great integration with iPhone / Siri / Mac, great use of Markdown, but umm where are tables? The ability to create a spreadsheet would make this tool stellar ...

I'm eagerly waiting for an Android app.

Bear is my note taking app for around a year now. I'm very happy with everything and finally stopped looking for another app of this kind :)

    Pros:

    Alternative to Evernote is much-needed.

    Cons:

    Not available on Windows.

It's a shame it isn't available for Windows, because I have read/heard/seen wonderful things about this software.

  • Pros:

Clean interface, really fast sync, right amount of features

    Cons:

iOS app/extension works wonky when trying to add multiple pictures to a note (order is incorrect, some pictures need minutes to appear)

    I love it =)

    Pros:

Fast! Clean, beautiful. I love the easy, nested tagging.

    Cons:

No collaboration. I don't like how it pastes links. I wish it did OCR.

I love Bear. I use it on all of my devices. It's so much faster than Evernote, which I moved from.
