After more than a decade creating impactful products—from wearables and VR to robotics and fitness services—we’ve also experienced the sting of building things no one wanted. And we’re not alone. On the practical side, we designed Whyser to make it incredibly easy for participants: no scheduling, no back-and-forth — just click and go. Since interviews are moderated by our AI, people can join at their own pace. It lowers the friction to participate by combining the speed of a survey with the depth and engagement of a real conversation.
As for why people join, there are a few common reasons. Many receive compensation — whether that’s monetary or platform perks — And, we’ve also seen real excitement from folks who enjoy getting a first look at new ideas, sharing their perspective, and having a say in shaping the products they care about.

Totally resonate with the pain of slow, extensive research just to get to the question of what to build. but how does your participant recruitment work - do you vet for quality or specific demographics?

On participant recruitment, we’re flexible. You can bring your own users, or we can recruit for you. When we do, we use trusted platforms like User Interviews and Prolific, and we vet based on your target demographics, behaviors, or niche criteria. We also screen for quality and continuously refine based on your feedback to make sure you’re having valuable conversations.
