Hey Product Hunt 👋
We launched Open Analytics here on August 13 and finished #2 for the day. Thank you to everyone who tried it. Here's what we learned in the five weeks since, and what we built because of it.
What we heard:
"Traffic is nice, but which traffic pays?" So revenue now comes from Polar as well as Stripe, tied back to the source that brought the customer.
"How much of my traffic comes from ChatGPT?" There's now an AI referrals card for ChatGPT, Perplexity and others.
"Hourly charts are too coarse." A GitHub issue asked for this. Charts now go down to 15 minutes, in each site's own timezone.
Lots of people signed up and never saw data. When the script can't count (localhost, preview domains), the dashboard now tells you why and how to fix it.
Also new: filters, entry and exit pages, Google/Meta ad click attribution, Umami import, and the tracker script is now MIT-licensed. The server stays AGPL, so you can self-host all of it for free. The part we're most excited about: connect Claude to our MCP server, or use the built-in chat, and ask things like "which pages brought paying customers last month?" No dashboard digging. We're two makers and we read every comment. Tell us what's missing, what's broken, or why you'd stay on GA. We'll answer all day.
