Hey everyone 👋 I’m Alex, the founder of WithMarsha. This project started from something deeply personal. I went through Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) myself, learning skills that helped me manage emotions, communicate better, and rebuild stability when life felt chaotic. DBT changed how I function, but like many people, I struggled to practice those skills consistently once therapy ended. Most mental health apps weren't DBT specific or felt either too clinical, too generic, and too focused on tracking symptoms rather than teaching skills that change behavior. I wanted to create something different: a tool that bridges therapy and everyday life. WithMarsha is my attempt to make DBT principles accessible through daily, compassionate conversations with an AI coach trained to listen, validate, and guide you toward real skills like mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. The process evolved from a personal prototype (something I built for myself) into a structured learning system. Each feature was designed intentionally: morning check-ins to identify emotions and pick a skill, real-time chat for when emotions spike, and evening reflections to close the loop and build accountability. Every element is grounded in behavioral learning and emotional safety with no ads, no data sales, and no dopamine loops. Just guidance, empathy, and evidence-based structure. Over time, WithMarsha became more than a personal coding project. It became a practice companion for anyone who wants to learn how to regulate emotions, not just track them. My goal wasn’t to replace therapy but to help people build the resilience and awareness to thrive between sessions, or even without them.
