Is it just me or are most AI interview bots too "nice"?
by•
I've been using different AI tools to prep for upcoming interviews, and my biggest issue is that they never interrupt me, even when I'm clearly rambling. I just tried a session on ZEDX and it actually cut me off to challenge my logic.
Curious what everyone else thinks—do you prefer a supportive AI that lets you finish, or one that grills you strictly like a real FAANG interviewer?

Hey Madison! Maker of ZEDX here 👋
You've hit on the exact problem that drove me to build this. I was doing mock interviews with standard AI tools and noticed they'd let me ramble for 3 minutes without a single pushback—which created a completely false sense of confidence going into real interviews.
We specifically engineered ZEDX's voice AI to actively listen for logical gaps and interrupt when your answer lacks depth or goes off-track, just like a real Senior Tech Lead or Engineering Manager would.
The score of 0 in your screenshot is brutal, but honestly? That's the point. Better to get destroyed by ZEDX in a safe environment than to freeze up in the real interview. 💪
To answer your question: I strongly believe the 'grilling' mode is the only way to build real interview muscle memory. A supportive AI just trains you to feel good, not to perform well under pressure.
Would love to hear what track you were practicing—maybe I can give you some tips on how to approach the next session!
