👋 Hi Product Hunt!
I'm Greg, the founder of YuYin.
Over the last few years, I've been building language-learning products and studying different approaches to language acquisition. One thing always bothered me: many apps focus heavily on memorization—flashcards, word lists, and grammar drills—but relatively little on actually understanding and using the language.
That led me to the idea behind this version of YuYin.
We've rebuilt the learning experience around Comprehensible Input (i+1), a language acquisition approach popularized by Stephen Krashen. The basic idea is simple: learners make the most progress when they're exposed to content that's understandable but contains a small amount of new language.
Instead of trying to memorize hundreds of isolated words, YuYin helps learners gradually acquire Chinese through level-appropriate content while still practicing speaking and pronunciation.
What's included:
✅ Structured Chinese learning based on the i+1 principle
✅ 5 progressive learning levels
✅ Mandarin tone training
✅ AI-powered speaking practice
✅ Pronunciation feedback and assessment
✅ Personalized learning recommendations
We're still a small independent project, and a lot of what we've built has come directly from feedback from learners.
I'd love to hear your thoughts:
Have you used comprehensible input to learn a language?
What has been the hardest part of learning Chinese for you?
If you've tried YuYin, what would make it more useful?
Thanks for checking us out, and I'll be around all day to answer questions and discuss language learning. 🙌
