What I learned launching solo on Product Hunt, with zero existing audience
Wrapt launched yesterday and landed at #74, with 10 points, 2 comments, and 19 followers. Not a huge number by PH standards but I'm still super proud and so I wanted to write honestly about why, because I think it's a more useful post than a highlight reel.
A few things I didn't fully appreciate going in:
We launched the same day as Vercel Day, which meant several of the top listings had real promotional support behind them. Worth thinking about when you're picking a launch date - check what else is scheduled that day.
I'm a solo founder with no existing PH following and no hunter. And while that's not a blocker to launching, it did mean the entire day's traction comes from manually working every channel myself - WhatsApp, LinkedIn, and (this one genuinely surprised me) a Slack community I'd half-forgotten I was part of ended up being one of the more engaged spots all day.
The prep mattered more than the day itself. I'd triple tested the signup flow end-to-end the day before, had my analytics tracking confirmed working, and had FAQ answers ready before the first comment came in. None of that shows up in the point count, but it meant nothing broke under real traffic, and I wasn't scrambling to answer questions I hadn't thought through yet.
