Where Am I? - Photo sharing. Gamified.

by
Where Am I? turns photo sharing into a guessing game. Post a photo of your location and your friends compete to guess where it was taken. Built nights and weekends by a solo founder. This is v1.0, the foundation of the game, with a lot more coming.

Hi Product Hunt! I'm Brent, the solo founder of Where Am I? This game started way back in 2009, when I randomly posted a photo of a TV antenna in Sacramento to Facebook and asked friends to guess where it was taken. A friend said, "I don't know, but I like this game," and the idea was born. I tried to build it back then. After a 2011 App Store launch of a bare-bones app, the economics of it all meant it died on the vine a short time later. In late February, I decided I wanted to stop just studying AI and get my hands dirty building something. Then it hit me: why not rebuild Where Am I? and finally fulfill the original vision? After a few months of nights and weekends with Claude Code, it is real in 2026. Where Am I? is a social photo game. You post a real photo from your life, and your friends guess where it was taken from five options, four of them AI-generated decoys that study the photo itself (architecture, vegetation, light) to fool them. Think Instagram meets GeoGuessr, built on your own camera roll. I was inspired by the creator of Wordle, a Reddit engineer. I work at Reddit too, though I am not an engineer. I am in tech partnerships, and I was emboldened by the promise of AI, specifically Claude Code, to bring this to life. What you are seeing today is a deliberate v1.0. I would rather launch the core game now and grow it in public with players than polish it in private for another year. The roadmap makes it more fun, more competitive, and harder to put down, and the feedback from this community will shape what gets built first. I would love your honest take, especially on what you would want in v1.1. Thanks in advance for checking it out! Brent
