Hey Product Hunt 👋

I'm Michael. I built WakeHero in the mornings and evenings around my job because I know the benefits of journaling, but I can never get it to stick. Journaling on and off for years, I finally thought that the idea of a journal that can identify patterns and reflect back the way my writing evolves over time could provide the engagement I need to build a consistent habit.

So WakeHero is built around two things.

First, consistency. You just freewrite. No prompts, no friction, nothing standing between you and the page. Pennebaker's research on expressive writing is clear: the act of writing freely is what creates the benefit. So the app's only job is to remove anything that stops you from showing up tomorrow.

Second, and this is the part I'm genuinely excited about: metacognitive journaling. WakeHero doesn't just store your entries, it notices patterns and provides helpful insights after each entry. And the real magic is that it compounds over time, as the app quietly builds a longitudinal memory of your patterns and hands your own evolution back to you. No judgment or advice, just a compassionate reflection.

It is built around your morning (or evening) routine with the ability to add a meditation timer before you write, set your intention for the day, or write about a moment of gratitude after your session. And you can upload a photo of your journal if you're old school and enjoy writing by hand.

This is a solo build and a genuine labour of love. I'd love your honest feedback: what's confusing, what's missing, what would make this part of your day.

Thanks for taking a look 🙏
