Void Text - A quiet, fully keyboard-driven native Mac text editor

by
Void Text is a native Mac text editor built 100% in Swift for distraction-free writing and note-taking. It stays lightweight, handles large text files smoothly (tested up to 50MB), includes built-in PDF export, and is designed around a keyboard-first workflow with features like Immersion mode and hidden Markdown symbols. It’s completely free and has zero tracking—no account, analytics, or data collection.

Hi Product Hunt 👋 I built **Void Text** because I wanted a Mac text editor that felt quiet, fast, and out of the way. What started as a small side project ended up taking much longer than I expected, with a lot of iteration along the way. But it eventually reached the point where I now use it as my main editor every day, which felt like the right moment to share it. Void Text is a native Mac text editor built 100% in Swift, designed for distraction-free writing and note-taking. It stays lightweight, handles large text files smoothly (tested up to 50MB), includes built-in PDF export, and is designed around a keyboard-first workflow with features like Immersion mode and a mode that removes Markdown symbols from the editor view. It also includes a few built-in fonts I personally like: JetBrains Mono, Fira Code, and UDEV Gothic. One thing that mattered a lot to me: it’s completely free and has zero tracking — no account, no analytics, no data collection. ⌨️ A few shortcuts I use a lot: * `⌘ + 1` → Immersion mode * `⌘ + 2` → Remove Markdown symbols * `⌘ + 3` → Show current line number * `⌘ + 4` → Toggle sidebar * `⌘ + 5` → Change font * `⌘ + + / ⌘ + - / ⌘ + 0` → Zoom in / out / reset I’d really love feedback on two things: 1. Does it feel fast and quiet enough to disappear while you write? 2. What would make it good enough to become your default text editor on Mac? Thanks for checking it out — I’ll be around and happy to answer questions.
