VideoPitcher was inspired by a problem we kept seeing in the hiring process: great candidates were often overlooked because recruiters had limited time and relied heavily on resumes and brief screening calls. A resume can show experience, but it rarely captures communication skills, confidence, personality, or genuine enthusiasm for a role.
We spoke with recruiters who were overwhelmed by the volume of applications and candidates who felt they never had a fair opportunity to showcase their strengths. We realized that hiring decisions were often being made with incomplete information.
We set out to solve two challenges:

Our initial vision was simply to replace traditional phone screening with video introductions. However, after speaking with recruiters, HR leaders, and hiring managers, we learned that video alone wasn't enough. Recruiters needed actionable insights, not just more content to review.
This feedback led us to integrate AI-powered analysis, helping recruiters quickly evaluate candidates while reducing manual effort. We also refined the candidate experience to make recording responses simple, accessible, and comfortable.
Throughout the development process, we continuously gathered feedback from both recruiters and candidates, which helped us focus on solving real hiring challenges rather than building features for the sake of innovation.
