Which Mac apps do you trust to update automatically?

Automatic updates are convenient, but I don’t treat every Mac app the same.

For small utilities, unattended updates are usually fine. For work-critical apps, developer tools, and anything that changes system behavior, I prefer to review what changed first.

Verzio supports both approaches: individual updates when you want control, and automatic updates.

I’m curious how other Mac users handle updates:

  • Update everything automatically

  • Review every update

  • Automate trusted apps and review the rest

  1. What would make you comfortable letting an updater run unattended?

  2. Would you like granular control over which updates happen automatically and which require manual approval?
