I built a screen share with a blocklist — Slack, ChatGPT, and email stay private

Every screen share starts with the same ritual:

Close Slack. Hide ChatGPT. Move email away. Clean the desktop. Turn off notifications. Then hope nothing private appears during the call.

I’m building Unshown, a macOS app that gives screen sharing something it should have had years ago: an exclusion list.

Choose the apps you want to keep private, start a Protected Share, and select Unshown as the sharing source in Zoom, Google Meet, or another meeting platform.

You continue using your Mac normally. Other people see the protected output, while excluded apps stay out of the shared screen.

It’s not a blur overlay, and you don’t have to close the apps you’re using. It creates a separate, presentation-safe version of your display.
