Umee Online - Transform PDFs

by
I built Umee PDF Pro because I needed to extract return tables from fund factsheets . I kept running into the same wall: every tool either uploaded the file to a cloud server (not acceptable for client data) or couldn't detect the table structure reliably enough to be useful. So I built it myself. Started as a side project to solve my own workflow problem in finance. The table extraction engine took the longest. Now I'm opening it up. It's live at umee.online as a web app.

Umee PDF Pro is a full-featured PDF editor that runs locally in your browser It covers the full editing surface: annotations, text and shape insertion, form filling, page management (merge, split, reorder, delete), watermarks, headers and footers, and multi-format export to OCR works across 8 languages. Digital signatures generate a local certificate. The Security tab handles AES password protection and metadata sanitization. Smart Redact scans for PII across multiple jurisdictions and permanently burns redactions into the file. The feature that doesn't exist anywhere else: **financial table extraction**. Draw a selection region over any table in a PDF — fund returns, asset allocation, any time-series data — and Umee detects the table structure, pivots the data into monthly return format, and exports a clean `.xlsx` ready for analysis. It works on scanned PDFs too, running OCR first. This was the original reason the app was built. Every major PDF tool — Adobe Acrobat, Smallpdf, ILovePDF, UPDF — uploads your file to a server to process it. Sometimes that's disclosed clearly; often it isn't. Umee's core editing pipeline runs entirely client-side. Table extraction, OCR, annotations, form filling, redaction — none of it requires a network request. For Office file imports, you choose: browser conversion (fully private, basic fidelity) or server conversion (high quality, file deleted immediately after). The default is browser-only. If you never touch AI features, no file ever leaves your machine. Built primarily for finance and compliance professionals who work with fund documents, research reports, and regulatory filings — people who cannot casually upload a client document to a SaaS tool. Also useful for lawyers, accountants, and anyone operating in a regulated industry where data residency matters. The free tier covers 7 days of full Pro features with no credit card required. Pro is $9.99/month.
