Why do we need a million Ubers for X, why not one Uber for X, and call it ServiceX or something? Saves everyone from making and downloading millions of apps, and it's just one app to have to download.
I guess today was not the best day to submit our app ServiceX on Product Hunt, the same day as the titan, Uber, releases an API for logistics. However, it's probably too late now, and so far we only have one upvote and will probably be overlooked, just like I was when I tried to get ahold of Travis Kalakin about expanding the technology to an "Uber for X".

@sean_murphy thats exactly what me and a few individuals are trying todo with quickja.com uber. we want to be 1 app for everything.
@duran_tech it's s nice idea! no mobile app? It's still somewhat complicated and logistics dependent. What if you can't get a delivery person and the order is made?
Report
@sean_murphy Yes we have mobile apps for merchants, customers and drivers. well thats the thing. On our platform we assume for every merchant to manage their business. So the merchant gets the orders directly and then they accept and trigger deliveries based on them accepting the job. We give full control back to the merchants.
@duran_tech what if the merchant can't deliver? Critique our delivery service in our app ServiceX. It's much simpler and is based on a drivers availability.
Report
@sean_murphy If the merchant cant deliver we have uber rush built in and we also have other on demand delivery companies that the merchant can trigger deliveries to. I will def check out servicex! We are actually finishing up a physical button that we are going to give every merchant so they can request delivery on demand.

Does Uber currently have this like Postmates that is direct to consumer? Moving from BY/LA/CH to Detroit has been a huge culture shock as far as this is concerned. I keep sayng someone needs to create this HERE....but does it exist already? Or am I missing the point?
PSA: I wrote a Node.js SDK for the UberRUSH API, and would love your feedback. Create a delivery in five minutes or less: https://www.npmjs.com/package/ub...

@whoisnatelam wow , just in time we are a startup from Myanmar that is building Uber for C2C Services , http://Esobo.co. Still in alpha . We built a Realtime-backend that quite similar to uber , from scratch, now we can use this! Would it work in Asia?

@v3ss0n Any developer can access the API, but the service is only in US as of right now unfortunately. Hang tight if you are trying to use the functionality in Asia :)
Report
Obvious use case would be any business who would benefit from real-time fleet tracking similar to what Uber offers. Wonder if Uber would make this API available to someone who wants to create an local bus tracking app?
