I tried it in Chicago today. Today's menu item was from XOCO, a Rick Bayless restaurant. I ordered via one press and it was literally at my office door in 3 minutes and tasted delicous. Uber's a logistics company... if they can make the right partnerships with their logistical prowess, it's sure to disrupt. Watch out Grubhub.
Uber has a great brand name. What are ways the other food delivery businesses can compete?
quality of restaurants, variety to name a couple
Very interesting. Would be great to get someone at UberEats in here to share their thoughts?
Just got an email that this is launching in Chicago as well. They're delivering from some pretty solid restaurants, and partnering with Rick Bayless to deliver from Xoco.
It's definitely neat that Uber is branching beyond cars and keeping it all within one app for our simplicity. I wonder how they'll manage the plethora of little slider buttons. It's already pretty squished on non-6+ screens.
Here's the landing page for Uber Eats: Looks like it's already live in 4 cities - LA, Barcelona, Chicago, and now NYC!
How many cities do they launch before they buy up the .com? Surprised they haven't done it already. It will probably cost them 10 minutes of a day's revenue.
Surprising that San Francisco isn't on the list of launch cities. Perhaps it's because Spoonrocket and Sprig have captured a decent lead on the market compared to other cities.
Extremely happy that for once Chicago gets a service first.
