Typoko - read.type.learn

by
Typoko is a typing test site that uses real book passages instead of random words. Discover books, quotes, and ideas while practicing with text that feels closer to real-world typing. Search specific passages or jump into timed, untimed, words, flawless, and focus modes. Every passage links to the book it came from if you want to read more. Features include leaderboards, detailed stats, and searchable passages. More features are on the way, and feedback and passage recommendations are welcome.

I’ve been doing typing tests for years whenever I’m bored or just want to practice a little. All the sites I’ve tried are always missing something I wish they had, so I made my own with the features I want. I don’t like that most sites use random words, no punctuation, no caps, real quotes but too short, no stats, or too many ads. I like the idea of finding a book I didn’t know I’d like while I’m doing a random test and it makes it more of a challenge too. Every passage links to the book it came from on Amazon, so you can buy it if you want. Affiliate links are the only monetization right now, no ads. No account needed to start, but you can make one for leaderboards and stats. Features: timed modes, untimed mode, words mode, flawless mode (ends with a single mistake), and focus mode (Newest mode, still improving. I tend to mix up words like “table” and “tablet”, so it tracks error patterns like transpositions and substitutions, and I can only move on when I correct errors). More features to come. Any feedback or passage recommendations are welcome. I have no coding background and I vibe coded this on Claude Code (I really like it, I’ve always wanted to learn coding but it’s hard and now I get to build the things I've always wanted to).
