finally tried trust vault last night and honestly the whole offline setup just works, no fuss. drop your files in, lock the vault, done. kind of refreshing not having to make an account for once

finally tried this and the offline-only setup actually works exactly as advertised, no telemetry nonsense popping up at launch. drag and drop into a vault was super smooth on mac.

Offline-first approach is a huge plus, especially for anyone handling sensitive work. One thing I'd love to see is an optional decoy vault feature, where entering a secondary password opens a different harmless set of files. Adds real deniability without much extra dev work, and it'd make Trust Vault stand out even more for privacy-focused users.

 Thanks for the thoughtful suggestion! A decoy vault opened with a secondary password would fit Trust Vault’s flexible security model really well.

We’d need to design it carefully so the real and decoy vaults couldn’t be distinguished through metadata or behavior — otherwise it could create a false sense of security. We’ll definitely explore this idea.

Would you prefer a separate decoy for each vault or one global decoy workspace?

Love the offline-first approach and AES-256 containers. One thing that would make this way more usable for me: support for hidden volumes within a vault, basically a second encrypted layer plausible deniability style like VeraCrypt does. Would feel a lot more solid for sensitive stuff.

finally an encryption tool that just stays out of your way, no accounts or cloud nonsense. setting up a vault took like two minutes and it handled my entire folder without breaking a sweat.

This looks really solid, love that it's fully offline and open source. One thing that would be a nice addition is a hidden volume feature, basically a second encrypted vault inside the first one that stays invisible even when someone forces you to reveal the outer password. VeraCrypt has it and honestly it's the kind of thing people who actually need this kind of tool would really appreciate.
