Trulan - Give AI context without giving it your data

by
Trulana is a local-first private context server for AI tools. Apps query your data over REST or MCP, but only redacted answers leave your device. Your raw data never leaves your machine. Includes: • Encrypted local vault (AES-256) • 3-stage redaction engine (regex + NER + generalization) • REST API on localhost • MCP support for Claude & Cursor • Token-based auth + audit logging • 117 tests passing Build AI apps that know the user - without storing their data.

Yo, It's Adam I built Trulana after realizing every AI tool is becoming a data vacuum just like everything else. We’re sending emails, calendars, personal context… and just trusting it won’t be misused. So we must change that. Your device becomes the API. Apps don’t get your data. They ask questions, and you return only what’s allowed - enforced locally before anything leaves. This macOS MVP proves it works: - Local REST + MCP - Real-time redaction - Biometric access It’s early, but the direction is clear: AI shouldn’t own your data. Would love your thoughts, especially from anyone building with MCP or local-first or privacy-first systems.
