Stage Manager support is now live
A user recently shared detailed feedback about how Pocket Screen behaved with Stage Manager.
That sent me down a much deeper technical path than I expected.
The straightforward implementation did not work: once the source window moved to the Stage Manager shelf, macOS returned only the small shelf preview instead of the original full-size window.
After testing several approaches, I decided not to wait for a perfect solution.
Pocket Screen v1.5.2 introduces the first version of Stage Manager support, focused on making the core workflow usable now.
Pocket Screen temporarily places the source window in a native full-screen Space, keeps its PiP visible while you work elsewhere, and restores the window when the PiP is closed.
There are still limitations, particularly with video from some Chromium-based browsers when the source Space is inactive.
I chose to release a practical first step rather than hold the entire improvement back.
This is not the end of the Stage Manager work.
I’ll continue improving the experience based on real-world use and feedback.
Thanks again to the user who reported the issue and helped push Pocket Screen forward.
