Hi everyone! 👋 I'm Harry, the solo developer behind The Ledger. The idea started with a pretty simple frustration: I could never remember everything I'd watched. I'd finish a movie, recommend something to a friend, or try to remember if I'd already seen a show, and I'd end up bouncing between Notes, Letterboxd, IMDb, streaming apps, and spreadsheets. Nothing gave me one place to keep track of everything. I wanted an app that felt more like a personal collection than just another watchlist. Somewhere you could rate movies, TV shows, and books, build custom lists, track your stats, discover new favorites, and see how your taste compares with friends—all in one place. The project evolved a lot over the past year. What began as a simple tracker grew into a full social platform with profiles, reviews, achievements, streaks, detailed statistics, and personalized recommendations. Along the way I learned SwiftUI, built the backend with Supabase, designed every screen myself, and spent countless hours listening to feedback from early testers to refine the experience. This is still just the beginning, and I have a long roadmap of features I'm excited to build. I'd genuinely love to hear your thoughts, suggestions, or ideas—whether it's something you love, something that's missing, or something you'd change. Thanks so much for checking out The Ledger and supporting an indie developer! 🎬📺📚

Love how it tracks books, movies, and shows all in one place with a clean ranking system that feels more personal than Letterboxd. The "earn your place" hook had me curious enough to dig into my backlog for an hour.

Thanks so much! Really appreciate that. The goal was to create something that feels more personal than just another tracker, so hearing that means a lot!

Does the ranking system use some kind of algorithm to score taste over time, or is it just a personal log I have to manage myself?

Great question! Right now it's primarily a personal tracker, you decide what you rate and rank. But The Ledger automatically turns that into stats, rankings, and insights about your taste over time (favorite genres, directors, actors, yearly trends, etc.). I'm also planning more personalized recommendations and taste-based features as the app grows. Thanks for checking it out!

Does it pull in what I've already watched and read on other apps, or do I have to add everything by hand?

Right now you can import your Netflix viewing history, Letterboxd data, or even a simple text list of titles, and I'm working on adding support for more services over time. You can also search and add anything manually.

finally somewhere to log every rewatch and obscure novel without judgment, the rating system feels genuinely personal instead of forcing some star average on everything

Thank you! That was one of my biggest goals. I wanted The Ledger to feel like your collection, not an algorithm telling you what should be a 5-star movie. Whether it's your 20th rewatch of a favorite film or an obscure novel nobody's heard of, it all deserves a place. Really appreciate you checking it out!

Finally started logging everything I've watched this year and it's honestly satisfying to see the list grow. Wish the book side had a little more flexibility with custom lists though.
