TCTGame Backstory: How a WhatsApp Group Became a Multiplayer Habit Game
A little backstory: It was January.
Everyone around me was making New Year’s resolutions. And, like always, I knew I would start something with full excitement and then leave it halfway without even realising it.
But this time, I thought of trying a small experiment.
I created a WhatsApp group with six friends.
We each set a few goals for the month and posted what we had done every day. The rule was simple: miss once and receive a warning; miss twice and you were removed from the group until the next month started.
Not every day was perfect, but on difficult days, we wrote a short reflection to stay in the loop instead of quitting completely.
And something about it worked.
More people around us kept joining the group, and after a point, it became difficult to manage.
So that small experiment became TCTGame, The Consistent Tribe Game, a multiplayer habit-building app based on the same idea. People join a Tribe, set their goals and keep showing up every day. The Tribe keeps them accountable, while the game rules keep them in check.
Over time, the magic of consistency became visible. Our users started seeing real results: going to the gym consistently, preparing for exams, landing new jobs, meditating, following skincare routines, eating healthier, growing on social media and more.
And now, we are getting ready to launch TCTGame on Product Hunt.
But before we do, I’m genuinely curious:
Have you ever started something with excitement, only to quietly stop after a few weeks? And if you have managed to stay consistent with something for months, what actually helped you?
I’d love to hear what worked for you.
